11:01 pm - C-G Forums
Okay, some nuck-futz has been exploiting and inherent vulnerability of our forums for reasons unknowable to man or gods. Except to say that it's been FLOODING me with undeliverable mail. So, until further notice, the C-G forums are down. Sorry for any inconvenience.

03:49 pm - C-G RSS Feed Up and Runnin!
Okay, folks, I double checked it (now that LJ has updated it again) and the C-G RSS Feed is running EXACTLY like I want it to! So, instead of the usual "browse to the page" and all that, you can read the most recent C-G straight from you LJ flist. Just "befriend" the syndicated feed cheshiregrinrss and watch the magic roll in!

Of course, I'm still updating it by hand until I take the time to code my own All-In-One back-end app (or get another one), but I fixed the problem I was having of trying to figure out how to get the COMIC to display, instead of just a headline...

So I just did what any self respecting scripter would do... I looked at someone else's code and adapted it to my needs. :-D

08:47 am - Cheshire Grin RSS Feed now up!
Hey folks! The Cheshire Grin RSS feed is now up, but still kinda testing. I *THINK* it's where I want it to be, but I won't know until noon. Sooo... feel free to go add and add cheshiregrinrss to your friends lists if you wanna, but be warned that you might have to bear with all the mistakes and crap I make while it's young.

08:51 am - Open Call for Guest Arts
Hey folks! I mentioned in the "Cheshire Grin: THE RETURN!" thread on the forums that we'd had the floor open for guest arts for some time now, however it just occurred to me that, while the floor may be open, it might just be that it was never ANNOUNCED. Or just not announced loudly. So, here I am announcing it:

If you're an artist, or not an artist, or know someone whose an artist, or knowing something ABOUT artists, then feel free to draw up something for Cheshire Grin and send it on in. I can't promise that all submissions will find themselves onto the site in the coming Wasteland of "Misha's trying to figure out how to draw," but the probability is quite good. And, if I get enough stuff in, I might finally get around to opening a "Fan Art" section of the site.

So, help a Misha out, eh? Send your guest arts to Misha@cheshire-grin.net TODAY! Or tomorrow. No rush, really.

09:32 pm - Grrr... I'll get this right eventually
[Edit: Ooopsie... I kinda meant to post this here earlier today, but accidentally posted it to my personal journal instead. So, just pretend it was here all along, all right?]

[Edit again: Okay, just TRIED to post this Cheshire_Kitties and posted it to my personal journal AGAIN. Maybe THIS time...]

Okay, folks, I know it's been a while with no news, but hopefully this news will be worth waiting for:

More details to come, as we haven't nailed down all the specifics yet, but I've agreed and she's agreed and I should be sending her scripts during the coming week. Expect an announcement on the site tomorrow.

06:21 pm - Attention All Puppet Finders!
A while back (I don't remember HOW long back, else this would be alot easier), Crash did a filler/fluff comic where he was using a Misha hand-puppet to say something. The punch-line of the strip was the puppet looking at Crash and saying "I feel violated."

If anybody can remember when this comic was posted or can find it in the archive, there might be a tasty bisquit in it for you. (And, of course, Tasty Bisquit (TM) is a trade-mark of Eric Burns. :-P)

03:39 am - Misha's Rant for July 11th, 2005
0328 EDT 07-11-2005

Well, the July 11th filler (above, for about 48 hours) is the short version of things, I suppose. The long version is that Crash, Renthor, *AND* Mike are heading back to Georgia come September. I'm still a little off-kilter about all this. I mean, yes, they're not really comfortable in Ohio and I respect their decisions and all that, but... it's just not something I can do right now. It's the end of an era, I suppose. I've been rooming with these guys in some capacity for... what? 4 years now? More? And now they're going to be 1000 miles away. I know, I know, things change, blah-blah-blah. Still, it's an ending, and endings are always a bit sad.

And Cheshire Grin is definitely going to be changing seasons, too. Whatever else happens, it will not be the same. I know I make alot of noise about being the voice an the writer of Cheshire Grin, but without Crash's input on characters, dialogue, and story, Cheshire Grin would never have become what it is. The whole "So I sez to this girl...." joke that I love running into the ground? That was Crash. Hell, the entire character of Jon? Crash. And now that voice is going to be gone. Don't get me wrong, I don't intend to let that stop the comic from continuing, but it will definitely be different.

And yes, I'm considering drawing it myself. It's been a LONG couple of weeks, and I've been drawing like a fiend. There's an entire series of entries on it in my LJ, which are about to lose their custom-listed status and be available to all. To get you up to-date before that happens, I've spent the last few weeks just working on getting used to the media and drawing faces, and I'm about to launch into another couple of weeks of drawing just bodies. After that ANOTHER couple of weeks working on incorporating backgrounds, charactes, perspective, and all that. Then another few weeks pulling everything together and getting used to the digital side of things (e.g. scanning and touching up). And then...? I'll decide if my drawing hand is even good enough to bother continuing. Because I'm all about getting this story told, but I'm not going to subject people to crappy illustrations in an effort to tell it.

Wish us luck.
